Kitchen Electrical Upgrade in New Mexico

The kitchen uses more power than any other room in the house. National Electric NM provides kitchen electrical upgrades in New Mexico, whether you are remodeling completely or tired of the breaker tripping when the toaster and microwave run together.

Kitchen electrical work

A modern kitchen needs at least two 20 amp countertop circuits plus dedicated circuits for the refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal, microwave, and range. Older New Mexico kitchens often run everything on one or two circuits, which is why breakers trip.

  • Countertop small-appliance circuits
  • Dedicated circuits for each major appliance
  • GFCI and AFCI protection
  • Island and peninsula outlets
  • Range, cooktop, and wall oven circuits
  • Under-cabinet, pendant, and recessed lighting
  • Range hood and disposal wiring
  • Gas-to-electric and induction conversions

Signs your kitchen wiring is behind

  • Breakers trip when two appliances run
  • Too few countertop outlets
  • No GFCI protection near the sink
  • Dim or shadowed work surfaces
  • You are switching to an induction range

Kitchen Electrical Upgrade FAQs

How many circuits does a kitchen need?

A typical modern kitchen uses seven or more: two for countertops, plus the refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal, microwave, range, and lighting.

Can you upgrade my kitchen wiring without a full remodel?

Often yes. We can add circuits and outlets by working from the attic, crawl space, or cabinet backs with limited patching.

What does an induction range need?

Usually a 240 volt, 40 or 50 amp circuit. If you are converting from gas, we run a new circuit from the panel.
