Whole House Surge Protection in Caballo, NM
Power strips only protect what is plugged into them. A whole house surge protector, installed at your main panel in Caballo, protects every circuit, including the air conditioner, furnace, refrigerator, and well pump that never touch a power strip.
Surge protection services
Most surges are small and come from inside the home or from utility switching, and over time they wear down circuit boards in appliances. A panel-mounted surge protective device handles both the everyday surges and the big storm-driven ones. In Caballo we usually pair it with point-of-use protection for computers and televisions.

Local knowledge for Caballo, Sierra County
Caballo has long, hot summers and mild winters, so cooling equipment does most of the electrical work. Panels in direct sun run hot, exposed conduit and cable degrade, and afternoon thunderstorms in monsoon season deliver frequent surges.
Depending on your address, power in Sierra County typically comes from Sierra Electric Cooperative or a municipal utility. When a job involves the meter or the service connection, we coordinate the shutoff and reconnection with the utility.

Whole House Surge Protection FAQs for Caballo
Will a whole house surge protector stop a direct lightning strike?
Nothing fully protects against a direct strike to the house. A surge protector handles the far more common case: surges arriving on the power lines from nearby strikes and utility events.
How long does installation take?
Usually about an hour, with power off for only part of that time.
Do surge protectors wear out?
Yes. They absorb energy each time they work. Most have an indicator light that shows when the device needs replacing.
Which areas around Caballo do you cover for surge protection?
All of Caballo and the surrounding Sierra County communities, including Truth or Consequences, Elephant Butte, and Arrey.
