Generator Installation for Mescalero homes and businesses
In southern New Mexico's desert, Mescalero summers push air conditioning, coolers, and well pumps hard for months at a time, and monsoon storms bring lightning and short outages. Heat is tough on breakers, and the sun is tough on anything installed outside.
Electric service in Otero County is typically provided by PNM or Otero County Electric Cooperative. For work on the service entrance or meter, we arrange the disconnect and reconnect with them so you do not have to.
Our generator installation covers all of Mescalero, along with neighboring Bent, Ruidoso, Alto, and Ruidoso Downs.

Generator Installation FAQs for Mescalero
What size generator do I need for my Mescalero home?
It depends on what you want to run. Covering essentials such as the refrigerator, furnace fan, well pump, and lights takes a much smaller unit than running central air and an electric range. We do a load calculation and show you the options.
Can I plug a portable generator into my house?
Only through a transfer switch or a listed interlock with a proper inlet. Backfeeding through a dryer outlet is dangerous to you and to utility workers. We install safe connections for portable generators.
Natural gas or propane?
If you have natural gas at the street, it is the simplest choice. Many rural properties around Mescalero run generators on propane, which works just as well with a tank sized for the runtime you want.
